About Local Pickleball Courts
Local Pickleball Courts is published by Toko Ventures LLC. It is a free directory of pickleball facilities, with practical guides for players who want to find a court and get a game.
Why we built it
Three generations of our family have found ourselves playing pickleball. The site is run by a stay-at-home dad who plays with his two daughters and their grandmother, Grammy. We built this directory to help other players, and other families, find a court near them.
What the directory covers
The directory lists several thousand pickleball facilities in the United States and Canada. Listings are organized by state or province and city. Each listing describes one place: a park, recreation center, school, club, or other facility.
A listing can include the address, the number of courts and how many are indoors, the facility type, the court surface, whether the courts are dedicated, lined, or shared, whether lights or fees are recorded, and a website or phone number when one is known. Not every listing has every detail.
How listings are gathered
Most listings come from an older court directory that we imported and preserve as our starting record. Those listings were compiled before we began reviewing data, and they vary in age and completeness. We keep the original import unchanged and record later corrections separately, so every change can be traced to its source.
New and corrected facts enter the directory in three ways: corrections and additions submitted by visitors, information supplied by facility operators, and area-by-area reviews in which we check listings against official sources such as city parks and recreation pages. We do not copy listings, text, or photos from Google Maps or other commercial directories.
Our Data & disclosures page explains the sources, what each listing field means, and its limits in more detail.
What is checked and what is not
We want to be clear about this. Most imported listings have not been individually re-checked since they were imported. They are a useful starting point, but hours, access, fees, and even whether a facility still exists can change. Lights and fees in older listings were recorded only as yes or no, so a "no" can mean that nobody reported the detail.
Listings in areas we have reviewed, starting with Santa Barbara and Goleta, California, have been compared against official facility pages, and each change was checked against a cited source before it was published. We expand these reviews one area at a time. Whatever the listing, confirm time-sensitive details with the facility before you visit.
How corrections work
Every listing page has a Suggest an update link, and anyone can add a missing court. Reports are reviewed before anything is published and never change a listing automatically. A closed facility is marked closed after review rather than silently deleted. The corrections page describes the evidence that helps us act on a report quickly.
How we write guides
Our guides are written by the Local Pickleball Courts editors. We follow a few rules:
- Directory figures are calculated from our current listings when the site is built, so they stay in step with the data. We describe them as what listings report, not as verified conditions.
- Outside facts, such as official court measurements or rules, are taken from the governing body's own publications and listed under Sources at the end of the guide.
- Advice about etiquette and open play describes common practice. We do not invent local rules or claim knowledge of a specific facility that we do not have.
- Each guide shows when it was published and last updated. If you spot an error, tell us and we will correct it.
Independence
Listings are not for sale. No facility pays to be listed, to appear higher in a list, or to be described differently. Lists are ordered by facts such as listed court counts, not by payment. The site does not currently show advertising or use affiliate links. If that changes, advertising will be clearly separated from listings and guides, and our privacy policy will be updated first.
